2 Corinthians 10:3-5 CSB
Heavenly Father,
We are your people, bought by the saving blood of Jesus Christ; yet, we still have our fleshly natures to contend with on a daily basis. Father, as Paul reminds us in this verse when we succumb to human methods and strategies – no matter how good they all sound – we so often fail. We need you to fight for us – intervene with your divine resources so that we will know your will for Christ Church. We ask for your wisdom and knowledge for everyone on the discernment team who serves you so faithfully.
We prayerfully come to you, most gracious heavenly Father; please intervene on our behalf. Wage this battle with your weapons of truth and righteousness, we pray
In Jesus’ Most Holy Name –
Amen
I also thank our pastors and members of the committee for their outstanding work. 1Corinthians 6 applies to all of us who are committed to follow Jesus Christ. Currently after explaining my thoughts about why we should leave UMC, the question pops out in a quick, defensive voice, You sin don’t you?” Or the statement, “ We all sin!” They believe they are being compassionate about people who cannot control their particular sin., without realizing they do not desire to control it because it pleases them. They are not reading God’s Word, listening to Holy Spirit if he is available to them. or not being called into accountably by their family, friends, or church.Tolerance has done untenable damage to UMC discipline and accountability. Will we be able to turn the toleration table to accomplished, healthy accountability? Holy Spirit guide us!
